How to find pickleball players in your city

By the PikolBond team · Updated · 5 min read

The hardest part of pickleball is rarely the game. It is finding three other people at roughly your level who want to play when you do. This guide covers what usually works, and which parts PikolBond can help with today.

Start with a profile people can act on

Other players decide in a few seconds whether you are a good fit for their game. Make that easy.

  • Choose your city or municipality, so people near you can find you.
  • Pick the skill level that honestly matches how you play. Being a little under is kinder to everyone than being a little over.
  • Write one or two lines in your bio: how long you have played, whether you prefer doubles or singles, and the days or times you usually have free.
  • Add a clear photo of yourself. People are more comfortable meeting someone they can recognize.

Join a circle, or start one

A circle is a group for a regular crew, a club or a neighborhood. Joining one is often faster than messaging people one by one, because the people in it already want to play.

Circles can be open to anyone, ask members to request to join, or be invitation only. If there is no circle for your area yet, start one and name it after the place or the time you play, for example a barangay and a day of the week. Say in the description what level it welcomes.

Ask in the community feed

A Looking for players post tells everyone, including people who have not met you yet, that you want a game. The posts that get answers are specific.

  • Say your city or municipality and your level.
  • Name the days and the general time of day that suit you, such as early mornings or weekday evenings.
  • Say whether you want doubles, a rally session or a relaxed social game.
  • Mention a court you have already checked is open to you. Do not post your home address.

Look beyond the screen

Courts, community sports facilities, local clubs and friends who already play are still where most new players are met. Ask around, watch a session, introduce yourself and say you are looking for a regular game. Then bring the people you meet into a circle so the group keeps going.

Meet people sensibly

PikolBond does not check anyone's identity, skill or the places they suggest, and it cannot guarantee any meeting is safe. Use the same care you would anywhere else.

  • Meet at a public place for your first game and tell a friend where you are going.
  • Confirm for yourself that you are allowed to use the court.
  • Use block and report on the profile or post if someone makes you uncomfortable.
